I have a really bad leak which seems to be coming from either the power steering pump, tank, or connection lines. Anyone familiar with this type of repair and what the common leak symptoms are?

I don't think this is common. There may be a clamp on the return line; perhaps it just needs to be tightened. You could also check for a cracked hose.
