Not earth shattering but I plan to wire a cd player into the '96 OBW... the haynes book has "typical audio system" wiring diagram... Biggest concern right now is which wire is always hot, which is only hot when accessory or ignition on.... & why the dash board graphic thinks there's door(s) open & the compartment dome light is on....

Any wiring gurus???

Well, it now appears as though I have courtesy dome light... for about a minute after shutting down the car, the light remains on (as does the dash door warning graphic). Could this be a "benefit" from the Sony people? 200+ watts & a light that shines.

Always, Always, Always.....Use an aftermarket harness. DO NOT HACK YOUR HARNESS!! They cost less than $10.00 and you get a detailed list of all wires and what they do.

 

I was a professional car stereo installer and I swore by them.

 

Some cars have many things that depend on that harness. Some hondas run their OEM alarms thru them.
