Alarm Issue with 2005 Forester

Featured Replies

I have a brand new 2005 Forester. The alarm should beep and flash the hazard lights once when I push the "lock" button on the key fob and should beep and flash the hazard lights twice when I push the "unlock" button on the key fob. It worked fine for one week and then the hazard lights stopped flashing. Now I only get a beep. The doors lock and unlock but I don't know if the alarm is being set. Has anyone had an issue with the hazard lights not flashing when using the key fob and how to fix this issue? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Don't have that problem, the lights flash ok. My problem is when you even breathe on the front end of my Baja it beeps the horn 5 times. Just the ticking of the engine cooling does it too. Any type of "sharp" noise makes it beep... like its saying, "get back"!

I have a problem like that. The horn beeps when I lock or unlock my Forester, but the lights don't flash. I think it's stuck in what the manual calls "valet mode." I would like to fix this problem because I'm really paranoid about my car, and I don't think the alarm is actually being set.

I have a 2003 Impreza 2.5RS that does the same thing. Hazard lights stopped flashing with the remote after a couple weeks. I bought the car 2 years ago. I have also had a couple isolated incidents in which the key fob would not work at all (would not turn alarm off or on). If you have had yours checked out since your post, or are going to get it checked, let me know if there are any findings. Thanks.
