I have Subaru legacy 92 with 2.2l turbo engine and automatic transmission.

My question is, can I remove the turbo from the above car and install it on Subaru Impreza 97 with 2.2l engine and manual transmission? If yes how many hp I would gain by this and does the Impreza’s manual transmission stand the extra power?

I am sorry to inform you that

 

there is quite a bit more involved

 

than just slappin a turbo on a non turbo engine.

 

You could expect about 20 horse power and a blown engine.

(piston, rings, head gasket all come to mind)

 

The transmission would probably be okay

as the engine would grenade before it had a chance to

take out the tranny.

 

Your better bet is to take the entire lump, gear box, rear diff and

wiring with the ECU

and and and and - --

 

out of your SS and do the nasty.

 

Shame hackin' a SS like this though.

Yeah many people have removed the engine from the SS and put it into a impreza.
