August 29, 200322 yr My '90 Legacy wagon tach needle lays on zero all the time. It used to bounce up and down occasionally and start working, but now it doesn't work at all. Any ideas where I should start looking?
August 29, 200322 yr speed sensor? speedo cable? those would be my first guesses.... hope this helps Jamie
August 31, 200322 yr Just curious, Does the speedo cable ALSO run the tach? I have a "sticky" speedo cable, but my tach is running just fine. On the other hand, I cannot seem to find a tach cable in my engine. Hmmm... Oh well, time to DANCE!
September 1, 200322 yr I had the same problem right after I bought my 91 Legacy. The tach would jump around and I would loose the temp gauge from time to time. It just happened to be a wire connector under the dash that came loose. It was pretty easy to locate because it was sparking. hehe :-\
