possible fuel pump problems? 97 Legacy Outback

Featured Replies

i have a sneaky suspicion that my fuel pump is headed south.

97 Legacy Outback, AT, 82,000 miles.

On start up after sitting for at least 1 hour, the vehicle pauses when trying to pull out the driveway. It is fleeting, since after that pause, the acceleration is normal and i have no more pauses.

It doesn't seem to matter if the car is high/low on gas or parked flat or on an incline. The outside temp doesn't matter either.

I have only had the car for about a year, and I can't remember if it always did this. It has been going on for at least a few months.

Any other signs I should be looking for , if in fact, it is the fuel pump? I would rather nip it in the bud and not get stranded.

Missy
