head_gasket_debacle
I have a '99 Outback that blew a head gasket driving into the Colorado mountains over the weekend. I don't know how long it was overheated prior to pulling over, but I'm assuming there will be damage to the heads, cylinders etc. Rather than just fixing the gaskets, heads etc., I have found someone who puts in 2003 Forester engines into '99s that have blown gaskets. I am skeptical about this process though because he will have to modify the manifold etc. to make it work with the current set up. Does anyone have any information about this conversion or any suggestions as to the likelihood of this switch working and not having major problems down the road? Also, if I did put in the 2003 Forester engine, does anyone know if it will hold its value when I go to sell it down the line? Thanks ahead of time. baccaruda
call Emily at http://www.ccrengines.com/ and ask about a 1995 2.2 liter swap. she could also advise you about the suggestion you mentioned.
