Why do my cooling hoses keep breaking?

Featured Replies

Just lost one of my heating hoses( luckily an easy fix, once I get the hose), looked to be in great condition, but I guess not. Thats the 4th cooling hose in a couple of weeks, and not to mention, the power steering lines had a hole melted in them. So I've pretty much replaced every hose on the car. Is there something that could be causing too much pressure in the cooling system? I replaced the radiator cap a week ago as well.

the car is 17 years old, and rubber does die. I'v had hoses on mine blow that looked fine on the outside, but were cracked and split on the inside. All of a sudden, POOF and a funny coolant smell. Once you replace the hoses, you won't have to do it again for another 5 years.

I have become a familiar face at the local hose supply shop:rolleyes:

I started to go through that scenario - then I looked at my situation, and decided that I should go ahead and replace them all - and now I have peace of mind
