Idle Control System Malfunction (Fail Safe)

 

I got the above code on a MT 2000 OB. Any pointers on how to fix the problem? Idle speed is a bit erratic.

Is the CEL on all the time, or did it go on once, and you get that code.

 

If it's not on all the time, I'd suggest just driving it, and keeping an eye on things. The idle air control valve may have had a hiccup, or it may be sticking due to carbon build up.
