Hallo,

I am finding my Soobie (2001 Forrester S Auto tranny) to be dripping oil out of the front transfer case onto the exhuast creating a nice aroma besides a low oil level. This seems to be coming out of the dipstick port, there is a nice trail of old oil there now.

 

Any thoughts as to what may cause this? Is the stick bad or missing a gasket? I did not feel pressure coming out of the hole while running, so I am at a loss.

Could be the gasket/seal between gearbox and diff that is allowing ATF to slip through. Have the diff oil checked.
