Rubber Smell and smoke?

My 99' outback limited has just developed a burning rubber smell and light smoke after being serviced. Im not sure what they did at the seviceing but the smoke apears to be comming from ontop of the exaust near the Cat. Whats going on?

My 99' outback limited has just developed a burning rubber smell and light smoke after being serviced. Im not sure what they did at the seviceing but the smoke apears to be comming from ontop of the exaust near the Cat. Whats going on?

 

Check the CV boots, especially on the passenger side. The grease splatters on the exhaust and stink whole lot.

Or they spilled some oil on the exhaust pipe during a transmission or diff oil change. It's hard not too, the oil will burn off and stop smelling after a few days.
