engine idiot light in 1996 Outback

Featured Replies

HI,

I have a 2.5 96 Outback and the engine idiot light comes on and off intermittently. A couple mechanic buddies say this is typical in high-mileage Outbacks and can be safely ignored. Is this true or should I make my way to an Autozone to get the stored codes read? The car runs excellent with great gas mileage.

Thanks for any idears,

Damien

Have it read.

It could be nothing, it could be something minor that's increasing your emissions, it could be impacting your gas mileage. There's a small chance it's a problem that's affecting the longevity of other parts. In any case, you're better off at least knowing what it is, even if you decide to do nothing about it.
