d1camero Posted June 27, 2005 Share Posted June 27, 2005 I am building a lightweight sports car from scratch (1500lbs) and I am not sure if I want to use a Miata 1.6 rear end or a Subaru R160 rear end. I have some questions and the R160: How much does it weigh? How long is the pinion from the axle centreline to the pinion flange? Can it easily handle 210 ft-lbs of torque? Legacy777 Posted June 28, 2005 Share Posted June 28, 2005 I shipped one.....and it's about 40 lbs or so. I don't remember exacts, but I think it's around that ball park...give or take 10 lbs. Yeah it can easily handle 210 ft-lbs of torque. NorthWet Posted June 28, 2005 Share Posted June 28, 2005 Requested length measurement is approximately 15.75 inches (+/- .125 inch). I don't have a scale so I can't give you a weight. Mine happens to be a Datsun R160. An option for you might be an R180 or R200 from Datsun/Nissans. Same measure/mounting as the R160, just a larger pumpkin area and a little more weight. Let's see... 400mm = 15.650in I guess my parallaxed measurement was a little out of specified tolerance. *edit - Wait a minute... lbs... mm.. mixed measurements?
