2000 Forester CEL <P0325>

Featured Replies

I'm having a wierd CEL problem. The last few weeks I was having a CEL problem right after I would fill up. The problem would clear once I removed the gas cap, put it back on and started the car about 4 times. The other day on the way to work the problem started again. I replaced the Stant locking gas cap with another locking one I have around as a spare. The spare is new. I went out for a meeting last night after work with the new cap in place and everything was A-OK. I think I drove about 8-10 miles round trip.

This morning I started the car and everything was fine except after driving about 2-3 blocks the CEL came on AGAIN ! :banghead: I'm clueless at this point. When the CEL happens the car feels like it has lost power.

Does anyone have some suggestions as to what the problem might be ?

I know Auto Zone can read the codes and I might stop there tonight on the way home from work.

Why don't you just stop by autozone? Once you have the fault code, I'm sure it will be much easier for someone here to help you get a handle on the situation. Otherwise its just going to be a bunch of speculation.

I finally got to Auto Zone and they pulled the code. The code is P0325 which according to my list means KNOCK SENSOR CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION.

Is there a easy fix for this problem ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well it's off to the mechanic on Monday.

I found out that my extended warranty which expires in 8/18/05 might cover the knock sensor. That would make this repair only $50 which is my deductible.

All well that ends well !

I had the knock sensor replaced today under my extended warranty. The Forester seems to be running better. Hard to explain.
