Recently my 2000 Legacy GT has had a loud squelling noise coming from the front when I turn the wheel. The odd thing is that it only happens after the belt or engine has warmed up for a while. Could this be the belt expanding or a new belt needed or what? Its just an annoying sound that sounds like the power steering is over-working its self. Also could it be something to do with the power steering fluid?

Adjust the fluid level in the reservoir. Use ATF fluid. The "cold" marks mean less than 20 degrees C.

 

And, tighten the drive belt a bit.
