EA8T head cylinder into EA81?

Featured Replies

What happens is that if it is possible to put the head cylinders of an EA82T in to a EA81 in order to install the injection system in the EA81. The thing is that EA81 head cylinder don't have any hole for the injectors, so i'm wondering if the option mentionned before is viable.

If not i think i will have to buy a EA81T engine complete, what do you think i can do?

Does any one can help me?

The EA82 head is a different design from the EA81's, and they are non-compatible. You could put the EA82T into the EA81. Or you could use the SPFI injection system onto your EA81.

Either way, be prepared to do a lot of electrical/electronic work.

Thenk you i understand now.

Is true that the EA81T engine is better than the EA82T?

"Better" depends on your priorities. The EA81 is a simpler design, adding a certain dependability to it. But on the downside, it has less ultimate power potential and was not designed with forced induction in mind.

The EA82 has timing belts that are a potential dependability issue, but has better breathing and thus more power potential. There is also the likelihood that forced-induction was at least considered in its design.

The EA82T is far more available than the EA81T.

So that means that with an EA82T ican get better yield than with a EA81T? and also i can have evetually more problems than with EA81T due to timing belts?

I already have an EA81 carburated, on a Brat 88. I want to get more yield from my car, but with that engine the only way will be by changing the carburator, but i want it TURBO.

I dont't have a big budget, even worst i just can purchase parts by saving with a lot of anticipation.

This is why i'm trying to see what is better to do. Here, were i live parts are very expensives but handcraft is very accesible.

I wanted cause i taught it was better, the EA81T but i planned to install SR20DET inyectors with the ECU and distributor (there is a adjustment to make) and a TD04 turbo with the impreza WRX intercooller also.

This is why i'm looking for the engine.

What do you think of that? What you think will work better fo the modification.

Thenk you for your time.

Bratthem.

THe ea81t will go hard with bigger injectors, aftermarket ecu and td04, so will the ea82t. Sure you dont have to change timing belts on ea81t, but thats not a huge advantage considering the fact that if you could find an ea81t you may pay at least 2x what you would for an ea82t. If you can get an ea81t cheapish, it should go well.

Well.....yes..but i live a very very long way from you. I have an extra one (minus ecu), but shipping would be ridiculous. Try putting an ad in the marketplace forum.

a friend of mine a couple of years ago took his ea81 heads to a machine shop and had larger valves installed along with having the intake and exhaust channels enlarged (hogged out) for better breathing and then ended up putting a holley 2 barrel carb on it...plenty of power to move the now....
