oddcomp
so on a 4wd 5speed .. how do you remove that small coupler off the tranny shift rod thats right next to the output shaft on the back of the tranny since there is not enough room to slide that bolt out .. all my shifter bushings are good except the one right on the end of the linkage setup its all worn wayyyy the hell out looks like there is a drift pin in the piece on the tranny but the punch i got seems ot be to small and i can't even hit it at a angle to drive out supposed pin... <--confused
Meeky Moose
done this before.. took a torch to the bolt, cut the head off and got it out.. got a new smaller bolt, slid a piece of rubber fuel line over it. made sure it fit tight in the hole. put a nut on the other side of it and put it back together.. stiffenes the shifter up real nice. hardest part is cutting the old bolt out.. ShawnW
Yup, you have to punch it out. Pretty good sized punch as I recall its a 6MM or so. Probably easier if you take the engine and jack the front edge of it up so the trans points down harder.
