from WRX to an impreza TS?

Featured Replies

it's getting about time for a break job on my '02 TS and i'm looking to upgrade (as always). i was thinking about installing wrx breaks front and rear or an aftermarket kit for the wrx. will this work on my TS? what do i need to replace to make this work properly? is there a break ballance controller? any help would be appreciated. THANX!

The WRX front brake rotors are a straight swap. You need the WRX brake caliper bracket, but you can keep your calipers as they're the same as the WRX items. Of course you will need 16" rims to clear all this.

To swap the rear brakes you will need the knuckles, hubs, disks, calipers, e-brake mech and shoes, mounting brackets, hoses and parking brake cables from a disk model. Make sure you get pads to suit the brackets as there have been some different styles used. A bit more work, but it's worth it. You could also upgrade direct to what people refer to as the H6 setup, the larger diameter rotors from the later Legacy / Outback models.

Try this link.

My advice would be to go to the scrap yard and grab the whole corner from a late model Impreza or Forester.

It's not necessary to swap the brake bias proportioning valve. It should not be necessary to swap the master cylinder, though a few people have reported low pedal height or long pedal after swapping. If you're unlucky you'll also need to swap for the master cylinder from a rear disk model, any one will do.

Also keep in mind that larger discs may put you in a position that you need to upgrade your wheels. But that depends on the size of the wheels you have on there now (don't know what the TS comes with)
