ptrent
I have a 93 Legacy wagon AWD with auto trans. Reverse has gone bye-bye. I have found a low milage transmission out of a 98 Forrester. I have not looked at it yet to compare. Just wondering will it fit or do I need one from a Legacy?
Legacy777
There's a couple things that need to be looked at. First is the final drive ratio. The 92-94 AT legacies had a final drive ratio of 3.90. I'm pretty confident the forestor doesn't have a 3.90 final drive ratio. Second is the electronics, they changed electronics or to a "phase 2" transmission, and I believe the electrical connectors are different, which presents a problem with you just hooking it up to your car. For simplicity's sake, try and find an AT from a 92-94 normally aspirated legacy, or one from a 91-94 turbo legacy.
