1995 Legacy - A/C Belt Problem

Featured Replies

I broke the tensioner for the A/C belt and need help finding a replacement piece. The tensioner bolt attaches to the pulley with a plastic nut which had become brittle and broke when I was trying to tighten a new belt. I will try the local dealership tomorrow, but suspect that they will try to sell me a new tensioner. Any suggestions on where I may find such a small piece ? I am planning on driving it without the a/c belt and have read that people have had no problems, but still am worried about having problems.

I had a similar thing happen to me. The plastic slider piece that goes along the bolt cracked. I got a new one from the dealer for a few bucks and a new nut for like 25 cents. It all comes separate so don't buy a whole new tensioner if they try to sell it to you.

Good luck.
