skinny Posted September 11, 2005 Share Posted September 11, 2005 i did a search on the vaccum advance. i read some stuff but still dont quite understand. i read my haynes maual and still trying to figure out. its still the 84 brat, stock..when i set the timing and i did pull the advance off the distributor it didnt change nothing. is it bad then or is something else wrong? im trying to get it going for my dad but never messed with a subaru. i hope all of you smart ones dont get mad of all the questiones.i do searches and read all i can. its been sitting for about 6 months. painted and redid the inside. now trying to get the motor running good. thanks for any help. NorthWet Posted September 11, 2005 Share Posted September 11, 2005 Unless I am mistaken (very possible), the vacuum advance is connected to "ported vacuum", which means that it is not connected to the intake manifold vacuum, but to a port in the carburetor above the throttle plate.
