Remote lock/unlock and ignition problems

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 97 Legacy Outback with the remote lock/unlock and ignition disable (but no alarm). Last night when I went to turn off the ignition, I think I accidently hit one of the lock/unlock buttons, and all the dash and overhead lights started flashing. The remote lock would not work, but after using the key to unlock the car and playing around with the lock/unlock buttons, I was able to start the car and get it back to what I though was the normal operating mode.

This morning my wife went to open the car and when she hit unlock, all the lights started flashing again, and she could not get the car to start at all. Is this something that needs to be reset or can be over ridden, or does something in the electrical system need to be checked out? I've found similar problems posted about the remote lock, but not exactly like this so thought I'd ask.

Thanks,

Colby

Thanks -- it doesn't help when the battery in the remote has gone dead, which was one problem. The other being that the lock and ignition kill had gotten out of sequence because lock had been pressed while the car was running, and it had to be cycled through a few times, which didn't work because the remote battery was dead.
