Drive Trane

Featured Replies

Will the drive trane out of a 89' GL fit in a 89' GL-10?

And what about the struts?

if the gl-10 is turbo 5spd the axles willnot fit from the gl. but if the gl-10 is turbo with a 3spd automatic they will fit

the struts will fit the same regardless

My GL-10 is a 4spd auto.

the other axles will not fit the the 4spd auto. this tranny has 25 spline axles. the non turbo trannies have 23 splines

if you needed axles for this car you will need them for a turbo 5spd or any full time 4wd

now if your question regards swapping the tranny out of the 89 gl, say if it was a dual range tranny, yes all the parts will swap over to the body. so long as you swap allthe parts necessary

what were your plans for swapping drivelines, and what driveline does the 89 gl have?

I am not sure what drivetrain the gl has. I found it in a junk yard on the internet. I wanted to see if it was worth looking at it for the Trans(if it is manual), rear diff, drive shaft, and struts. If the trans is manual and will fit in my car I wanted to just get the whole other car.

The drive train will fit, but you're talking about the whole drive train, from the back of the crankshaft back. You'd also need to fit the clutch and cable and I'd recommend getting the hillholder, too - that's one of my favorite parts of my subaru.
