Rough Idle

Featured Replies

I'm new to the message board. I own a 1998 Outback with 78,000 miles. I have a problem with a rough idle while in gear...annoying. The dealer continues to say everything with the engine is set correctly and the Subaru's idle as such. Anyone have any ideas? I've tried a couple of rounds of injector cleaner but that didn't seem to change anything. Out of gear, the idle is definitely less noticable.

Your clutch may be dragging (I assume it's m/t). You might test the pedal for proper travel.

Well in that case I'd do a tranny FLUSH first, especially if its not been done in a long time. With those miles you really have nothing to lose.rd

ps - I assume the engine is healthy. An ailing engine can manifest itsself through the transmission.
