Heater core question...

Recommended Posts

Dammit !!!!!!! I had a page full here, and hit the wrong button and it disappeared, ************e!

Anyway, Long story short (if possible) LOL!!

Was driving around today, heard alot of gurgling behind my radio. I knew it was the HC. NOw, my heat goes from warm, to cool, to HOT,. back to warm.

My coolant is filled to the brim....so plenty there.

I call my local radiator shop and describe the above.

He says a flush should do the trick.

But then he says "But it may cause a leak too"....WTF??:slobber:

So, should I get the flush??

I want to, but if it causes a leak, I will run this car off a cliff.!!!!!!

I got to have heat for the winter.!!!

I have HEAT now, it's just not HOT 100% of the time, but once running for a while, seems top get hotter. But I still HEAR gurgling...

So I am thinking flush, but I cannot chance a leak..

So, Should I get it Flushed or NOT?..........

There is a new radiator on it, also, a new thermastat...

thanks for any suggestions..

You've got air in your cooling system, sounds like. You can get it out by "burping" the system. If you can, park your car with the nose uphill. Take off the radiator cap (when it's cool, of course) and then gently squeeze the upper hose to force out the air (engine running at idle and heater on works best). Refill and repeat until you're not getting any more air out. Make sure your cap is good and the tube to your overflow bottle is good, and you shouldn't have any more problem.

Just wanted to add...

I can LIVE with this.! My heat comes on, Blows good, .....It's just kinda finkicy.. but once it heats up, all seems to be ok.

Just not acting like a normal heater should be..... I did feel the hoses, both hot.

thanks,!!!!!!

If the people here say "GET A FLUSH", I will do it tomorrow and report back here.

To be honest , I was looking for the coolant leaking into my floor board with all that gurgling...

Well, LET ME KNOW!!!!!!!

Subarian - your a genius !! Yes, it does increase with speed.!!

I did park it on a hill a few weeks ago (Due to the suggestions I read here), but I forgot to squeeze any hoses..

I will do this tomorrow and wait on the Flush.!

And report back here with an update.!!

thanks again Subarian.!
