Alex GL-10
The seal for the input shaft in my 4-spd auto went out. I went up to Advance Auto to see if they had one. They said they could not get it, that I could only get it from the dealer. Then he said something about an input shaft bearing. My guestion is do I need to get a bearing and seal to put the shaft back in because I thought it just had a seal. Dose anyone have a diagram of the shafts and torque converter? I'm not sure that I need the input shaft seal or another one. By the way the how are the Auto Zones around ya'll? The people who work in the one near me know less about cars than me. Subarian
Can't help with your trans question, but Autozone is kind of hit or miss. Sometimes you have to educate the folks behind the counter before you can get them to get you the right part. Checker's no better, and I've even found the same at NAPA. ShawnW
Theres a bearing on the shaft to keep it centered in the case but they are usually fine. The seal if you take the tranny apart and get it out will have a number on it and usually you can match it up with that.
