trxeslr66
I have a 99 Legacy with 70k miles on it. At 35k I had Midas replace the front brakes and machiene the rotors. Since then I put premium aftermarket pads on the back. I'm planning on leaving the back alone. I dont have any braking problems but there is some vibration, my guess is its the rotors. Also I notice when driving other cars, my car lacks breaking power. If I get new rotors, what are the advantage of using Brembo vs. stock for normal driving? I am most concerned with having smooth braking in the long run. Also, I bought a set of new OEM pads, but my current Midas pads are more than 50% left. Should I replace the Midas pads that are lasting alot longer than my first set of stock when I install new rotors? Thanks
color-blind
For brake rotors I suggest either Brembo or oe rotors. For brake pads go Oe, Sumitomo, or Akebono. If you purchase "good" quality brake rotors you will not have vibration problems. If you buy "cheap" brake rotors they will shake out of the box. If you want to turn/machine the brake rotors it is best to have them machined on the car. Hope this helps.
Subie Gal
what pads are midas using? metallic? semi-metallic? pads could be part of the problem. no rotor is going to last forever. longevity depends squarely on the DRIVER and how the car is driven i find that OEM rotors work well. respond well. and can last. I have 106k on my ORIGINAL OE rotors on my Impreza they are about done.... but they have given me a good run if you want to check pricing on new oem rotors (discounted) 1) you will need to use our OEM catalog to access https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html 2) look up by part number - - 26310AC060 this is the 99 Legacy NON GT rotor unless you're racing the car, you really dont need any of that slotted / x-drilled stuff. hope this helps.
