:clap: thank you to Imdew, betzilla, edrach, and all who helped me troubleshoot my "01 legacy charging problem. The alternator was toast, as most suggested. the battery took a charge and is ok. I had my local auto shop do it (not the dealer). Total out-the-door cost: $440.00. If that's what it costs every 94,000 miles to have someone else scrape their knuckles doing the repair, then I'm ok with that.
