March 13, 200620 yr I'm planning to pull the struts off my '90 and put them on the '92 - both 4wd wagons... 1. Does anyone foresee any issues with design differences between these years? Completely interchangeable? 2. Do I need a spring compressor if I just want to swap the strut assemblies intact? (I always thought you did, but looks like you only need that if you want to remove the struts themselves from the assembly, right?)
March 13, 200620 yr Author Completely interchangable and no spring compressor needed. Cool...thanks Shawn!
March 20, 200620 yr Sorry to hijack thread, your title was exactly what I needed in search. Question is: Can a 2wd rear strut be swapped for 4wd rear strut, and if so, does it help lift, ride to be stiffer. Monroes web site has different part numbers, yet gabriel struts found on ebay are putting the same two struts on 2wd and 4wd wagon, or sedan. Any advice appreciated. I fill up the gas tank to watch the back end appear to SIT ON THE GROUND.
March 20, 200620 yr The 2wd wagon and 2wd sedan are rear strut swappable. Doing so for wagon from sedan has benefit of free lift (not much). I was hoping the wagon strut was longer than sedan, it is the opposite.
