hello I am new to the world of subaru's and also this forum. I am looking for help with my latest project. It is (was) an awd 87 turbo wagon. It will be a really nice sandrail when done. the chassis is built and used both front and rear subframes with all stock drivetrain. As I am new to subaru's I am looking for your help on performance mods. My budget is pretty tight, so Im wondering what I might find at the local pullapart for performance goodies. If anyone can help suggest some cheap upgrades or some links to "subaru 101" I would greatly appreciate it. Are there other stock subaru components that will help? thanks again:headbang:

Search first, ask later. There is a bit of stuf in this subforum alone.. from intercoolers to bigger turbos and better fuel management.

more info on your setup?

are you using the stock ECU or standalone? Megasquirt?

are you using the mass air flow sensor?

stock Turbo?

thanks for the reply suberdave. it is a bone stock setup with maf. I am an ase mechanic and have had a tubocharged grand national and many other hotrods. the problem is I have no experience on roos other than head gaskets, timing belts,..etc. I am looking for interchange info (use heads from a yugo because they flow better:confused: ) I dont know where the casting #s are or the diff between ea18, ej22, or upyours1st. If I had this info I could perform a better search. thats why I am looking for the basics. If someone could break down roos for me breifly I would have a better understanding of what to search for. I have found all kinds of info on lift, suspension, tranny, but no interchange. If this were a sbc I could write an interchange manual but that comes with 20 years exp.I have about 1 week of subaru experience. so if anyone can link or break it down that would be awesome:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

where about in wasington are you? i live just south of Seattle. maybe we could talk subaru some time.

lets see. for an intake you can find a "spider intake" from an XT.

witch makes it easer to plumb up an intercooler.

many people are puttint TD04 Turbos from a WRX on the EA-82.

you can up the boost on the stock turbo with a manual boost controler (dont go over about 9-10 PSI).

a Turbo from a Turbo Legacy will bolt right to the up pipe but you will need a WRX down pipe.

you can use a APC from a turbo Saab (boost controler & other fun stuff).

for a sand rail you should look into finding a 3.9:1 Duel range trany and diff
