2006 outback navigation system

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I'm new to the boards.

I will be getting a new subaru within the next few months. I have done the reseach and have decided on the Outback 2.5 XT Ltd. Wagon w/ NAVI, with auto tranny. It seems to have everything that I need and will use.

The question is for 2000.00 dollars is the navigation system worth it. For those the have it does it display somewhat accurate information.

I know navigation systems are not popular around here, have done a search. I like the fact it will tell me the tire pressure, maintance schedule, memo options, finding a restaurants, gas stations, and other stuff.

The main purprose for this vehicle it to do long trips, camping, and some light to medium offroading, not rock climbing but country roads.

So for those who know, is the navigation system worth the money.

Lastly, does anyone know when the next years models come out(2007). I would hate to make a deal on a outback then have the next years, and the leverage that would bring, model come out. I was reading on edmunds forum, post #815, that it is this May. Is this true?

i'm running a Garmin Streetpilot 2610, i luv it, granted it doesn't tell my tire pressure....but i never have a problem finding an address, and i am able to plug the memory card into my computer, or the unit itself for software and map updates. and they are way cheaper. i would check on how the maps are brought up to date on the factory models a couple of years down the road when things have changed. also i don't have the custom in the dash installation. but i can grab my temp mount to stick it in a different car, or even on a cruist ship to track our progress.

here is a picture of the install. the mount is made from polymer clay that is baked to harden it.
