86 wagon failed emissions

I just bought an 86 carb'd 4x4 wagon. it failed emissions and I ran the codes. 42-clutch switch and 52 selenoid valve. I have dealt with the EGR system before so I assume it is the valve being shot. I was wondering what the clutch switch or circuit does and would it effect emissions.

Oh I forgot to mention the only thing it failed was high CO at the 2500 rpm range everything else was good. Like it was running rich. anyone got any ideas?
