Aftermarket exhaust and mysterious part

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a good aftermarket exhaust (headers/cat back) that fits an 02 outback limited 2.5L?

Also, What is the bare metal block fixed to the passenger front wheel well? It has wires going to it and, at least in my car, gets really hot fast (~1 minute)

thanks.

Does it look similar to this?

If so, it's the transmission dropping resistor. The TCU runs the signal for shifting solenoid through it to help minimize shift shock during shifts. The TCU can alter how much juice it sends through there, and by doing that, it can firm/soften transmission shifts.
