Replacement Headlights? HELP!

Featured Replies

So I need to replace the lights in my '79 Brat, you can hardly see with them. Trouble is, when I go to the parts store they only have headlights for the quad light front end, I have the singles w/ high/low together. I think the p/n for the quads are H5001 and H5006..... does anyone have a clue where I can get the lights I need or even better, know what halogen part number they are? Also..... if I can't get them, can I use the high beam for a quad in my car? Thanks!

Just woke up so my mind is a little foggy... Are those 5-ish" or 7" headlights? IIRC, not too many options for halogens for round lights, as they started to go out of favor about the time DOT started to allow halogen headlights. All of my "vintage" round lights were "offroad use only".

The lights may not be as bad as you think, the wiring might be dodgy too. Try running wires direct from the battery to one, if it's a whole lot brighter then you have bad wiring, normally the earth connection but if the wiring from the dash is bad it can be fixed by running a fused (10-15A) wire from the battery to an automotive relay and have the lighting feed from the dash switch that relay.

old sealed beam lights aren't as good as halogens but they shouldn't be too bad either.

well, all of my lights pooped out this afternoon... so I shouldn't have to worry about headlights for a while :(
