I have a 87 subaru wagon dl that has had a check engine light on for way too long now, time to finally get to the end of it.

 

I connected the green conecters under the hood and the led under the dash flashes in sets of six. No long or short flashes, so I'm guessing that it is code six.

 

Anyone able to translate that for me? I can't seem to find a code listing out there.

Well my engine light was off while I read the code, that answers that question. Now it's blinking 3 long and 4 short. 34 seems to be my egr solinoid valve sticking on or off.

 

Is this a pain to replace? any ideas?

EGR Solenoid is super easy to replace. Unplug it, unplug the vacuum lines, and unbolt the solenoid.
