I have a 96 legacy 5 speed manual. I have been trying to find a new transmission, all the junkyards tell me I have to have the exact same trans numbers, they cant find one, did subaru make a zillion different transmissions ?

isnt a 5 speed a 5 speed, i can switch over the eletronics if i have to, i just need a new 5 speed. arrgggg, any help or expirence would be greatly welcome

As long as they have the same type of clutch and final drive, the transmissions should be plug and play - no other changes needed.
