ea82carbed ->ea82turbo swap requirements?

Featured Replies

Hi all im new to the usmb.1st post.

I had been thinking about it and was wondering what would be required to put the ea82turbo engine into a gl wagon that curently has the carbed engine? u know all the details like fule pump,higher psi fule lines,wiring, proper ecu? cuz this little engine that could has 225440 miles on it and im startin feel it!

you need the following list and I might not have everything you'll need on it...

EA82T engine with wiring harness and ECU

any EA82 FI fuel pump (SPFI, MPFI, MPFI turbo)

fuel lines

clutch and flywheel

EA82T crossmember

exhaust

instrument cluster IIRC

and various odds-n-ends inside the engine compartment to make things work that fucntion with the engine. To do a swap like this I would highly recommend a parts car that has the stock EA82T in it to save you headaches of trying to round up certain parts to make it work.

If you are going to go through all the hassel and bs of swapping in an ea82t, look into the ej22 conversion. Makes more power, has more potential, and doesn't have the head gasket issues. And it would be about the same amount of work
