ok so i have to drive 100 miles one way to work this summer. and my impreza on 28 ssr's wont due.. so i found a 1981 2wd ea81 5speed car it has 130k on it and is in decent shape. im wondering what the best mileage ea81 car is. also what are people getting with the spfi conversion on the ea81.

 

anyway ill let you know what it cost to drive an ea81 16,000 milesin 3 months...

 

for those who care its a brown Gl sedan, no ac, no ps, only a bit of rust in the bottom of the front doors and not much anywhere else if you have a 1980 broshure its the one on the opening spread...

I had an 83 GL-10 2WD 5 speed sedan, had power steering and AC but I took the belt off the AC cuz it didn't work...

 

I averaged 28 in town and 32-36 on the highway, depending on how I drove it. I don't miss the lack of power but I DEFINATELY miss the gas mileage!

well you have the recipe for getting the best gas milage with that combo of 2wd and 5 speed. I average over 30 on the highway with my 2wd 5 speed sedan.
