I just rebuilt my 82 brat oil pump. Yes you can get by with rebuilding the old pump. I went to NAPA that they have the kit with all o-rings and gaskets for just about $6.00. Take pump apart, soak in solven and clean everything and reassemble. You could mic everthing but I didn't. There was no scoring or worn areas so I just reused everything.

I rebuilt it because I though it was leaking. After I put it back together I still had a leak. Come to find out the timing seal/front crank seal was the culprit. I replaced it with a unit from NAPA. Same price $6.00. No more leaking. Dry, leak free suby engine.

earlier this summer i got an ea82 car.

few weeks later, i saw oil underneath, then dripping from

the front edge of the hood.

couldnt quite locate the leak, so i did the front seals, and t belts.

still wet and dripping all over the front of the engine.

steam cleaned the whole thing and found a pin hole in an aftermarket oil press gauge line that was spraying oil at the motor

from beneath the radiator.

i laughed and cried, so it goes, eh?
