1st gen predicament

Featured Replies

i have a few predicaments....

i own a 93 2.2 awd turbo legacy sedan

i own a 93 1.8 fwd n/a impreza wagon

i want a 95-98 awd impreza 2/4door or wagon... needs no motor or it could be a bad motor even... i just need the chassis and drivetrain.

i wrecked my legacy. bad. so i'm pulling the motor and i was going to put it in my impreza and have the only FWD turbo impreza i've ever even heard about. but i blew up the tranny. now here is my problem. I know i could bolt(or weld if i have to) the rear crossmember and make my wagon awd with bunch of legacy parts, but wouldn't I need an impreza wagon driveshaft? every thing should work, right. i have the engine almost all the way out and would only need to rip out the back suspension correct? or would you guys think buying an awd body and putting my 2.2T block in that?im torn. it's so much work to do the conversion-but also the wagon doesn't have ABS so id have to run the lines and to hell with that.so, ill appreciate any help you can give.

I'm not sure if the rear crossmembers would swap. But you would still need an awd impreza gas tank, and you would need the imp d/s to make it work. Not having abs won't be an issue with the motor swap. Unless you just like having it I wouldn't give that any more thought. Make sure you get the engine crossmember out of the legacy as well, you'll need to swap that into the other car as well so you can fit the uppipe to the motor.
