Help! Steering wheel is locked

Featured Replies

The steering wheel locked from turning the wheel without the key in the ignition. I used the key and tried to unlock it but it wont unlock. I jiggle the wheel, apply the brake, clutch everything but the key just wont turn. Is there any trick to doing this or any way to manually release the steering wheel lock? Need some help because right now the car is just stuck.

Try turning the wheel hard away from the direction it is locked. It's just tension on that locking pin that is keeping the key from turning. Get the tension off it and turn the key

it should all be in the steering column. there's the lock pin in the ignition that should disegage with the key turning. when mine sticks a little light pressure turning on the wheel when I turn the kew usually frees it try both directions since it can lock with pressure going either direction depending on which way the wheel was turned. jiggling doesnt work for mine, and don't really crank on it either just enough to take the pressure off the lock.

Got it! Had to pull back on the steering wheel AND turn it hard to the left. Thanks!

that one must have a pretty good wear mark in it from the sound of it.

just remember to turn your wheel straight next time you park it or it could happen again
