I have a 97 Legacy wagon and the air control panel doesn't work half the time. Its worse in the winter time when I can't get it to switch to defrost.

When its not working there are no lights lite up on the buttons. Should I be looking for a loose connection somewhere? Is there info on how to take the dash apart somewhere on this forum? Thanks

The loose connections will be cracked solder joints on the circiut board inside the control panel.

 

Remove cup holder.

Remove trim around shifter.

Remove ash tray to access two screws in trim around radio.

Dissconect Hot/Cold air door control cable under passanger side of dash.

Remove 4 screws from heater control panel.
