idle at rpm,whats it mean?

Featured Replies

when I bought my 00 outback,it used to hold idle at 2krpm.

now it idles at 1000.this is in park, after start up.

which is better,or what can be gleaned from that change?

thanks

Did it idle at 2000 when it was warm? Ideally it should idle under 1000 when fully warmed up. Perhaps there is an intake leak somewhere and the ECU is adding extra fuel to keep it from going lean.

2000rpm at idle is practically 'racing'. I can't see how it would not seem normal at all to anybody.

Mybe your instruments are faulty.

Idle chould be about 700 rpm.
