EGR light?

Hey I got the EGR light on in my 86 GL 4x4 5sp. any ideas on what to look for first. not very experianced with troublshooting theese so any help would be appreciated.

Most likely this is just the "60,000 mile EGR check light". Technically you are supposed to pull off you're EGR valve, clean or replace it, then reset the light. While cleaning out you're EGR is a good idea, if you want to just reset the light it's easy.

 

Pull off you're fuse box cover. Now unscrew the 4 screws holding the fuse block in place. Pull it forward and down as much as you can. Behind where it was, you should see a couple of single pole connectors, 2 green and 1 blue IIRC. Dissconnect which ever ones are plugged toghether and plug it into the other unused one. This will reset the light.

awesome thanks for the reply, I probably will just take it off and clean it, im putting a full new exhaust on next week so might as well just do it then.

 

then on to the cv shafts anybody have a write up????????? i've never doen them before.
