triiifashions Posted May 23, 2008 Share Posted May 23, 2008 just bought a 98 outback that has had an engine out of a 2000 put into it runs great but there is a loud tick in the engine that is from startup to accelerating hot or cold didnt know if it was somthing that was done during engine transfer or what thx in advance jeremie Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

What you have there is piston slap, unfortunately pretty common and if it goes away in 5 minutes of running its nothing too terrible to worry about.
