January 1, 200422 yr I'm getting a new clutch in my '96 legacy outback. Is there anything I should check on while i've got the tranny out? also, what would you folks recomend as far as which clutch to put in? I've heard lots of bad things about Subaru's clutches, so I'm probably going aftermarket with a lifetime warrenty. Thanks! -Collin
January 1, 200422 yr I had an oem put in my 97 2.2 a bit more than a year ago. It was touchy for the first week, then did fine. Cost $14 to have them replace the main rear seal while they were in there. Mikey
January 1, 200422 yr Clutch, pressure plate replacement, throwout bearing, slave cylinder and as mentioned rear engine seal. Face flywheel if not PERFECT. Anything exposed while opened should be replaced. It is just good "insurance."
January 2, 200422 yr Yep, rear main seal along with all the ammentities that come with a clutch kit! And since I always get stuck with the motors with bad cam covers gaskets, we are replacing them as well! Josh!
January 2, 200422 yr If it's that cheap to replace the rear main, then go for it. Otherwise it's not a big deal. Few Scoobs leak from the rear main, my Legacy is dry as a bone in the bellhousing...
