January 16, 200422 yr My steering has become kind of stiff. It'll turn smoothly for about 1/2 turn then it hits a stiff spot...if I keep turning the wheel in the same direction it'll hit another stiff spot. It does it in both directions. If it wasn't -30°C right now I'd crawl underneath and take a look at it......any ideas ?
January 16, 200422 yr Don't think I'd worry, especially at those temps: metal shrinks, things are tight and the oil is thick. You might consider draining fluid and replacing with full synthetic dexron III ATF. Less stiction with this fluid may be a great benefit at these low temps. Mike
January 26, 200422 yr Author It turns out it was the U-Joint on the steering column. A bit of WD-40 and everything's cool.
