I have a 1997 Subaru Legacy Sedan 2.2 (automatic). I am looking to mod it a bit and I thought of putting an STI engine in it. But my questions are,

 

1. will the engine fit

 

2. which one should i get

 

3. where do i even get the engine?

1) yes this has been discussed many time on other site

 

2) out of any USDM Sti would be easist because of availabilty on parts in the future

 

3) Ebay, NASIOC, craigslist

wouldnt the sti engine eat that auto alive?

in some cases yes and no. if you upgrade the torque converter you might be ok but i would upgrade to a WRX tranny at least, but once you drive a 6 speed you cant go back. So i would say get an STi tranny, you will not be disappointed
