SHAGGY0072
First off, this is my first post ever on this forum. 92 legacy sport auto. 244,000 miles and still runs strong. However, the transmissions they put in these cars give me nightmares. At 241k I replaced the front diff, 3.90 gear, there were 7 teeth missing from the ring gear. Got it all back together, things seemed grand. Serviced the tranny while it was out of the vehicle (fluid, filter.) I have a 102 mile commute everyday, 2300ft elevation change. On the way home the car is under a pretty severe load. I just can't keep my foot out of the turbo, its so much fun!!! Anyhow, 4th began to slip, so I drove around in 3rd, and then 3rd started slipping. After 3rd gear went, I parked it. Anytime I crank it up and try to move the car forward it squeals like crazy and then engages 1st. I smelled the fluid (smells like 3000 miles worth of brand new fluid.) I have a 92 non turbo legacy awd auto donor car. I'm pretty sure I'll have to change the front diff, but will the transmission work. I would like a positive answer before I do anything.
