Reattaching rear view mirror in Subaru Liberty 05 model

Featured Replies

My 3yr old has managed to take the rear view mirror off the arm that attaches it to the windscreen.

The arm has a ball that fits into the back of the mirror but it doesn't matter how much my husband tries to push it back in, it won't go.

I figured since my darling son had been able to remove it, there must be a trick to getting it on/off as he would not have the brute force required (at least I don't think so!).

Hate driving around without a rear view mirror - any help would really be appreciated!!

Thanks.

It quite possibly is broken, but there is a screw facing the passenger side that you need to loosen to open up the socket. The ball should still be attached to the mirror, then just simply reinsert the ball into the socket, and tighten the screw. Good luck:)

If the ball has popped out of the socket, it can be re-inserted. However, it requires a special tool that is more expensive than a replacement mirror. Any good autoglass shop should be able to do it for you, though. Otherwise, a replacement mirror shouldn't be terribly expensive.
